The club Brücke der Freundschaft e.V., founded in 1979, is associated with the worldwide exchange organization People to People International since 1995.
People to People International headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. People to People's mission is to enhance international understanding and friendship through cultural and educational activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among people of different countries and cultures. The homestay program is one of the most important vehicles to fulfilling this mission. There are chapters and members in 40 countries. The European clubs are united in People to People Europe.
The Brücke der Freundschaft e.V. makes it possible to stay with members of other PTP clubs during an exchange program - called "homestays".
You go either as an ambassador of our country to a club abroad or welcome foreign visitors as a host at your home.
As an ambassador of our country you live with a familiy for some days, participate in the daily life, develop an understanding for each other and get rid of any prejudices. You will see that there is hardly no difference between the joys and sorrows of our friends in the world and ours. Your host may have a different life style. You should be flexible for this so you have the chance of getting to know new things. You don't need to be afraid of difficulties with a language. A smile will be understood everywhere.
As a host here in Germany you give your guest or guests the possibility for some days to get to know your personal way of life and habits as well as to learn about our country, culture and traditions. You may take your guest on day trips through Berlin or on weekend excursions through the countryside.
As many exchange programs are possible during the year, depends on the interest of the members and other PTP chapters. Each exchange program here and abroad is carefully organized and supervised by an exchange director.
The Brücke der Freundschaft e.V. is a non-profit organization promoting international understanding.
We would like to point out that all active members have honorary functions, and the club is not a professional, commercial travel agency.
Members of our chapter also have the opportunity to do their own activities.
Because it promotes international understanding, the Brücke der Freundschaft e.V. is a non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible. The club is registered at the district court of Charlottenburg.
Annual dues are 40,- Euro for adults, 18,- Euro for pupils, students and trainees and 60,- Euro for families.
